New homework

I've posted a new homework (due Thursday Feb 14th) on the class website. It should be of similar length and difficulty to the first one. We'll monitor the blog and reply to any general queries here for the benefit of everyone... of course you can also email / see us individually with problems.

You probably know the Sun exhibits an 11 year cycle of activity (technically 22 years since the magnetic field flips sign every 11 years and takes two cycles to get back to where it started). We've just passed Solar minimum, and a new cycle is beginning, but sunspots are still few and far between on the Sun. The Astronomy Picture of the Day (a great website) today has images showing the start of the new cycle.
